Problems with offline maps

Stuck downloads and places you can't find

My download is stuck. What now?

Try these steps, in this order:

  1. Check your connection. If the internet drops, the download stops. A stable wifi connection works best.
  1. Keep the app open and your screen on. This applies to all phones and tablets.
  1. Check your storage. A nearly full device can't save the map. Check the free space in your device settings and delete what you no longer need.
  1. Start again. Stop the download, close the app completely, open it again and download the country again.
  1. Update the app to the newest version.

Can I use the app while downloading?

Yes. You can keep searching and viewing locations. You see the progress under Available countries. Keep the app open and your screen on.

💡 Tip: does your screen lock automatically? Turn off auto lock in your device settings until the download is done.

Why can't the app find my search term?

Offline, the app only searches what you've downloaded. There are two likely causes:

  1. No location is linked to that name. The app only knows places that have a location. Small villages may be missing, so search for a larger town nearby.
  1. You search in a different language. Place names are saved in the app language you had when you downloaded the country. Search in that language (for example Wenen instead of Vienna if you downloaded in Dutch), or delete the country and download it again.
